Mumbai, July 14 (UNI) Alia Bhatt is venturing into the horror genre for the first time after officially joining the cast of "Tumbbad 2", the sequel to Sohum Shah's cult horror-fantasy film.
The announcement came through a joint social media post by Shah, Alia Bhatt and Amita Suresh Shah. The accompanying pictures showed the actors enjoying the photoshoot, giving fans a glimpse of their warm off-screen bond. Sharing the pictures, he penned in the caption, "A new chapter unfolds. Welcome to #Tumbbad2, @aliaabhatt #PralayAayega See you at the movies."
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the 2018 film told the story of a man's obsession with a hidden treasure guarded by the mythical deity Hastar. Its atmospheric storytelling, folklore-inspired horror and breathtaking cinematography earned widespread praise from critics and audiences alike. The film found renewed popularity after its theatrical re-release, becoming one of the most successful re-releases in India.
With Bhatt and Shah joining Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the sequel, the makers are set to continue the story with a new chapter helmed by Adesh Prasad, set to arrive in theatres on December 3, 2027. UNI NST CDS
